Today I want to talk about this thing...
If you have been reading my blog for a while, you can probably count on one hand the number of times that I have talked about weight (at least that's my hope..) The intention of my blog is to discuss health and fitness - not weight. But I want to talk about the scale as a tool in your health and fitness goals.
I do weigh myself every day that I am home but there are a few basic rules that I always follow.
- Weigh yourself at the same time every day
I always weigh myself in the morning before I have eaten anything. By weighing yourself at the same time every day, you can accurately compare it to the day before. - Use your comparison as a motivation tool
Don't allow your weight to demoralize you. You are going to fluctuate in weight every day, that will never change. If your weight is higher than the day before, use it as motivation to get in the gym. If your weight is lower than the day before, be proud of what you have accomplished and keep going. - Have a goal weight
I would be lying to you if I told you that I don't have a goal weight. When I first started my fitness journey, my goal weight was higher than my current weight. Be reasonable about your goal weight but don't let it be the only reason, or even the main reason, that you are working out. You are working out to be healthy, not skinny. The weight loss will be a benefit.
It's that simple - right? :) There is nothing simple about this but you just have to keep pushing, keep evaluating your goals, and challenge yourself. You are the only one who can do this for you.
