Combating that inner monologue

It's so easy to find excuses not to workout and forget about all the reasons to do it. Fighting your inner monologue is often the hardest obstacle to getting a good workout.

I'm not sure if this is a good idea but I'm going to let you in on my inner monologue from today:

"I only have 50 minutes to workout today. I did the 47 minute insanity workout yesterday and I don't want to repeat it today. The other workouts are 40 minutes or 60 minutes. 40 minutes seems like a waste of effort but I can't fit in the 60 minute workout."

After this monologue I could have easily just skipped a workout altogether but the trick to getting it done is modifying what you do to make sure it works for you. Instead of a full 60 minute workout, I skipped a set of each circuit and made a 50 minute workout out of a 60 minute workout.

Whether you are modifying an entire workout or just a portion of it, modification is the key to combating that inner monologue and making it happy while still getting a great workout.
