I think the biggest obstacle to sticking with a workout routine is the infamous 'recovery' day. If you are anything like me, 'recovery' day always turned into 'take a break' day. Unfortunately, 'take a break' day was usually followed by another 'take a break' day and maybe another... You see how this can quickly become a problem.
The best piece of advice that I can give you is to stop taking a break from working out on your recovery day. Recovery day should be a less strenuous workout day with a lot more stretching involved. If you belong to a gym, try a pilates or yoga class on your recovery day; both with allow you to stretch out your sore muscles and re-focus your mind. At-home pilates or yoga videos are also a great choice.
After your ONE recovery day, make sure your next workout gets you moving and your heart rate up. Don't get stuck in the recovery day rut.
