Wait Five Minutes

I never thought that a night (or two..) on the town would teach me anything that would be valuable on the job but believe it or not, I have.

For those of you who go out with me regularly or maybe just once, you know that I have one rule when it comes to drinking.. 'wait five minutes.'  You're probably chuckling if you've heard me say that a hundred times before but for those of you who don't understand, let me explain.

Everyone knows that when you drink a lot of liquids you have to go to the bathroom a lot and the sooner you "break the seal" the more often you have to go.  So... my 'wait five minutes' rule applies to every single trip to the bathroom while drinking.  Every time you feel the urge you have to tell yourself to wait five minutes until you can't possibly wait any longer.

How could this possibly apply to my career?!  Well, as a young professional, I still haven't learned to go to bed at ten o'clock; therefore, I have to drink lots of caffeine to keep myself going.  It may not be alcohol but it still has the same effect on my little bladder.  To avoid people thinking I have major issues, I employ the 'wait five minutes' rule while at work, too!  Who said nothing good comes out of drinking?!
