Although my life is so full of happiness right now there are
always things that spur different emotions. Today I write in in honor, in
memory, and with encouragement.
In honor
Many of you may already know this but it is not something I
have ever had the strength to blog about.
About thirteen months ago, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her
cancer was discovered as early as possible and was likely the most minute case
of breast cancer ever; for that, we are very fortunate and incredibly thankful. My mom has been cancer free for just over a
year and I pray she stays that way forever!
Regardless of the severity, no words can describe the utter fear and
sense of helplessness the word ‘cancer’ holds.
In memory
While my family was very fortunate, there are so many people
who are on the other side of the spectrum.
My boyfriend Chris’s mother lost her battle with cancer two years ago
today. Although I never had the chance
to meet her, I can only imagine what an incredible woman she must have been to
raise two wonderful children.
With encouragement
Since her diagnosis, my mom has been a strong advocate for
regular mammograms. Had it not been for her mammogram, the cancer would have
gone undetected and the severity would have been much worse. So we encourage you to get checked
regularly!
In honor and in memory of our loved ones, please consider
joining me in making a donation to the American
Cancer Society.
