I'm a 22 year old female from North Carolina. I graduated 24 days ago from North Carolina State University with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering. I was hired by ABB, an international power and automation company, into their Power and Automation Leaders program. This program is a two year program consisting of three 8-month rotations aimed to provide entry level engineers with a diverse background of the company through rotations in sales and marketing, manufacturing, and many other types of assignments. I recently moved to South Boston, VA (don't worry... no one else has heard of it either) for my first rotation in marketing.
So that's my story. Pretty straight forward. What would anyone possibly want to read about after hearing me recite my story for the 13,495,740 time since March?! But the more I thought about it, that's just the beginning of my story. Starting a new job and traveling around for two years is actually pretty exciting. Maybe it just sounds boring because I've now said it 13,495,741 times.
So after much debate, I decided to take the plunge and start my blog. I'm still not sure that many people will read it but having a large number of followers is not my goal. I started this blog for many reasons many of which I can't even begin to explain but I'll give it a try...
- There's not much to do in South Boston, VA.
- I live alone and I hate cats.
- I can tell people to go read my blog so I don't have to recite everything over and over and over again. (I mean, I like talking but it gets old telling the same story over and over and over...)
- To share my experiences.
- To remind some and enlighten others of the changes and challenges that occur during this transition period between college and career.
- To have a record of all of my adventures.
- To allow myself to be proud of all that I have accomplished.
- To encourage others to step outside their comfort zone.
- To provide myself time to think about all of life's experiences and to cherish all of the blessings that I have been given.
- And lastly, for myself. If no one else reads this blog, then I will still have learned so much about myself.
So I still haven't nailed down my theme but I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with changes, challenges, experiences, and transitions. Whether good, bad, exciting, painful, or challenging, I know that you can't become who you are today without a few growth spurts.
Corinne,
