Accountability

There's something about a Saturday or Sunday that makes me feel like I can workout all day.  I guess it's the fact that I have a lot more time on my hands but something just gets into me and I can't stop.  Today was certainly no exception.  Lesson learned Corinne:  legs or Insanity - not both.  I'll be lucky if I can get out of bed tomorrow morning.

Many people (myself included) find it hard to get back into the swing of things.  My trick is finding a way to hold myself accountable.  Whether it's creating a workout calendar or writing a blog, find a way to hold yourself accountable and measure your goals.

I'm a checklist kind of person so one of the best ways that I hold myself accountable is writing a schedule or calendar.  But make sure it's realistic...

Below is my latest calendar.  It's the Insanity plan but you'll notice I did not put the days of the week on it.  Between work and school, it's very unlikely that I will workout six days a week but if I have this calendar staring me in the face every day (it's on my fridge), I'm more likely to check off those little boxes.  I'm also more likely to make good food choices since it's on my fridge.. double duty!

Maybe you struggle to hold yourself accountable but you can always find a friend or family member to partner up with.  It's a lot harder to say no when you've committed to someone else.  Find what works for you but remember - accountability leads to progress.

Bringing it back!

It's been a long time but I'm bringing the blog back! I have missed sharing my story, encouraging others, and hearing from you!

The truth is, I've been a gym slacker lately.  During the winter months, we tend to take a major break from the gym.  I mean who wants to go to the gym when it's 20-something degrees outside and pitch black when you get off of work??  Not me!

But the sun is finally making an appearance after 5 PM and I see bikini season around the corner so it's about time to get back into things - and boy am I excited!

I have taken a six month break from my favorite workout and I'm finally going to get back into it again.  For those of you who don't know, my favorite workout is Beach Body's Insanity.  While I have done many other workouts, I have never experienced the results with anything else like I have with Insanity.

I finally bit the bullet and purchased an expensive floor mat for my "home gym" to save my knees because I just can't stay away from this crazy workout.  Here's hoping I'm ready to hang with Shaun T again...

New year, new you!

It is finally 2014.. I can't believe it! Everyone always thinks of the new year as a new beginning but they almost always fail...

The trick is to set realistic goals and don't beat yourself up when you mess up a little. Truth is, you're going to mess up every now and then but you have to keep at it.

They say it takes 30 days to make something a habit so stick to your plan for at least 30 and you'll be shocked how quickly it sticks. I can't go a day without thinking about working out even on the days that I don't do it.

The best piece of advice that I can give you is to surround yourself with people who encourage you and who share your health and fitness goals. My family always encourages me and I've found that even my co-workers know how important my health is to me. I guess that's the best accomplishment of all!

So click that follow button and I'll continue to encourage you to be a better you. :)

Happy new year and here's to a happy new you!

Holiday hustle

It's two days before Christmas and I turned my air conditioning on today... Whatever it takes to get in the gym, right?

It's been hectic around here getting ready to host both of our families on Christmas so I've been a bit of a gym slacker but I have to find time to fit in the workout if I want to fit in my jeans after all of these hams and potatoes and rolls and cookies..

I'm taking a little hiatus from my normal diet but I'm trying to maintain a balance and not take it too far.

Just remember... One bad meal won't make you fat just like one good meal won't make you skinny. Live a little but take smaller portions or balance your dinner with a workout. Find ways to enjoy time with your family but never forget about your health.

Happy holidays!
